Have You Considered Making 5 Different Resolutions?

We all know the most common resolutions concerning health. However, have you considered that these resolutions are merely branches emanating from a single tree trunk? It makes more sense to create resolutions which strengthen your core identity. Your ability to change depends on a good self-concept.

The first resolution one needs to make is to: Harness your power!

5 New Year’s Evolutions:

* Change your verbiage, especially when you qualify a compliment with a negative. For example, “Wow, I did twenty pushups. I didn’t think I would be able to do that.” Instead, “Wow, I got stronger. I did twenty pushups.” Words are powerful persuaders.

* Never mind what you ought to do. For example, there are those who will advise you to follow your instinct, or your gut. Then there are those who will tell you to adhere to your moral compass because you are not an animal. Find your own balance between head and heart.

* Take responsibility. Stop blaming family, friends and colleagues for your unhappiness. You are in charge. You don’t have to excel at everything. Find the something you do well and let that be your identifying success.

* The secret to getting ahead is getting started.

* The key to health and happiness is the balance between giving and receiving. Giving is a great way to take you out of your narrow context and generate benevolence. However, the darker side of giving is depletion and the doormat syndrome. You need to take a personal inventory.

Resolve to give yourself a high five. You can play a powerful hand with your five fingers. Each finger represents not just personal power, but spiritual power. The first finger represents the survival instinct, the life force; the second is choice with the right to say no; the third is empowerment, the ability to make a unique contribution; the fourth is social, the power of friendship and the fifth is fun, releasing your inner child. Now, give yourself a hand and you will see that your diet, exercise regimen and all your relationships will improve.
