Food is essential to each every living thing. It is the source of almost everything our body needs. Imagine the absence of food, scary. A food is to be eaten, of course. So a person eats to satisfy his or her appetite. Food gives different nutrients depending on its source and each nutrient has its specific amount of calorie.
Calorie is a unit of energy and heat. In nutrition, kilocalorie is the common unit being used. One kilocalorie is equivalent 1000 calories. One gram of carbohydrates is 4 calories, one gram of protein is 4 calories, and one gram of fat is 9 calories.
The more you eat foods rich in carbohydrates, proteins, and/or fats, the higher the calories you get. Calorie is essential for a person’s body to function because for the fact that it produces energy which a body needs. But as what experts say, too less of something is bad and as well as too much of something is not good. The average calorie a person needs per day is 2000 calories.
In the health world, there are many cases that had been reported and recorded of clients who love to eat and eat. They cannot resist the temptation of eating different kinds of food. For a fact, that some does know the effect of it and some does not. Unfortunately, the habit of eating too much is a sin. Gluttony is the term.
The effect of eating and consuming too much calories is weight gain because the excessive calories are converted to fats. Excessive fats are bad for one’s health and it can contribute many health problems mainly heart diseases also known as cardiovascular diseases (aortic stenosis, endocarditis, heart attack, heart failure, mitral stenosis, angina, and the like).
For a person to prevent the above mentioned health problem a dietary regimen is needy and it is called calorie restriction. One should consult a concern health care provider so that he or she will able to know his or her amount of calorie intake.
Calorie restriction, restricting calorie intake, is being based on what the client’s usual calorie intake from which the dietician, the health care provider who focus on the client’s diet, will instruct the client to eat a particular menu instead of something else that they want to eat. This dietary regimen will minimize energy intake but remains and still eat the quantities of vitamins, minerals, and other necessary nutrients in sufficient amount.
Hence, some foods are listed as worst and best to eat. Sweet potatoes, grape tomatoes, fat free or 1% low fat milk, broccoli, wild salmon, crisp breads, microwavable quick-cooking brown rice, citrus fruits, dice butternut squash, and spinach & kale are some of the best foods to be eaten.
It also helps a person to improve his or her memory and slows the aging process. In addition, performing daily exercise for at least 30 minutes plays a big role in maintaining a well balanced lifestyle which leaves the person feeling light and active.
